[Tig] Question from new subscriber

Apologies for posting to the TIG blog rather than to the mailinglist. I am still figuring out how the TIG site is structured. And thanks Rob for moving my post to the mailinglist.
I agree... I know I am in over my head. Way over my head. I also agree with Jack and Tyler that training from a colorist professional should be pursued. I recently made those same recommendations internally so hopefully that will materialize in the coming months. I do realize that my questions are broad and I appreciate the suggestions and responses the TIG community has made to my post. There is no one else here at NARA that can answer my basic questions so having a forum like the TIG to seek guidance and reassurance is awesome.
If TIG folks want to get together in the DC area the first round would be one me.

Oh yeah, my disclaimer: I haven't worked for, taken money from, or have any
financial incentive to recommend any of the companies/people mentioned.
Kevin Shaw I have met casually a few times and have a very good impression
of him and know he's a super-knowledgeable trainer on that platform, that's
all. I'd recommend others, too, I just don't know any. I do currently use
Nucoda + Truelight as my main system.

3. CMS has a log->709 LUT. (There is a log>linear LUT that ships with
