[Tig] ProRes444 necessary when grading BW

I think the question was not so much about 444 vs. 422 but 10bits vs 12bits i.e. 1024 levels vs. 4096 possible shades. So if you have a 10bit Log film scan or a high bit linear file, i.e. a 16bit Tiff or an Epic monochrome (12bit?) ProRes444 will potentially have more shades when rendered out?
