This was “horrible”  not at all down to the device otherwise it would have been at the bottom of the garden long ago.

LCD would explain it. In terms of gamma tracking, most of them have difficulty coming out of black. Which picture mode is it in? (I'm guessing the TV's calibrated given the line of work we're all in?)

Freeview, bog standard on a Panasonic LCD ..HD and SD the same... my motor
got stuck on hotbird so couldn't compare with freesat

1st episode of the new Dr.Who last night. BBC normally have an excellent
standard but all I could see was quantising all over the dark shots .
horrible !

anyone know how it was done ?
