RE: Video Release: PAL and NTSC
The only problem with the aforementioned
theory is that pal digibeta is not capable
of playing back at 24 fps! Offspeed
playback, the process that plays back the 25
fps tape at 24 fps, is possible when using
D1 or DCT. My suggestion is to record your
pal transfer to D1, and use an anamorphic
format converter to extract the 525 release
master from the 625 original transfer
master.
Some caveats: the 625 transfer master will
play back 4% slower at 24fps than 25 fps.
This means that the audio will have to be
pitch corrected up 4%, and that the timecode
will have to be interpolated as well.
This assumes, of course, that the feature
has audio to go with the picture!
Good luck!
