Re: head tones
The term "Head Tones" refers to audio
alignment tones, ususally in the form of a
1Khz sine wave recorded at whatever
reference level the format that you are
recording on. On a D1 tape, the
reference level is -20 Dbu. The head tones
are recorded at the start of the tape,
usually accompanied by color bars if it is a
video tape.
