As someone who both has to cause exhibition booths to be built for
manufacturers, and who visits them as a working journalist, I am not
convinced that it is a stupid thread.

Bob K. is quite right. It costs money to change signage at the last minute,
but not so much money that the alternative - deceiving visitors - becomes
acceptable. If a manufacturer published an outright lie in a brochure, or
in a sales proposal, everyone would be rightly outraged. A trade show is
just another step in the sales process, and should be treated as such.

So I agree with the original posting which started this. If you do not
believe that you are seeing what you are being told you are seeing, demand
to know the truth. And if it is significantly different, then you should
ask yourself why the manufacturer is doing this.
