The account of the robbery is classic criminal stupidity.
The thieves were young men, drunk and stoned on pot, who decided that they
should take the film and "watch it later". The fact that it was film and how
would they watch it was beyond them.
As they tried to load the one reel that they got in their car, it began to
unspool. So much so that the driver couldn't find the pedals and film was
hanging out the doors and windows.
Clearly these are not the pirates Jack Valenti is after....
And would an electronic print been harder or easier for these guys, or
anyone else, to get and use?
